Hello! My name is Brooke Hassler. I am a hairstylist and owner of Pure Envy Salon and Spa in Bloomington, IL. It is a beautiful salon and spa that I take so much pride in! I might be a little bias! Having now owned Pure Envy for 13 years and able to expand the salon space and add a full service spa and add to our Pure Envy tribe some incredible ladies that I am so thankful to have with me on this journey.

Growing up with 5 sisters I was always surrounded by gobs of blonde hair (oh the 80’s) and lots of commotion (or drama). I often times found myself sneaking into my older sisters rooms to use their makeup and hairspray (pretty regularly in fact). I may have even cut my own bangs a time or two as a youngster. (Sorry momma) I now get to spoil my 19 year old step daughter and 15 nieces and nephews with all things beauty related! I get my outlet for my love of music when I help my husband Tyler, DJ weddings on the weekend but have to stop myself from wanting to go out on the dance floor or grabbing the mic for karaoke.

Confession:  I consider myself a dessert connoisseur and a card shark. If you want to know the best restaurants just by their dessert, I know them all! And I will never say no to a card game!

My tank is full of coffee, good vibes and a #bossbabe mentality. I am constantly looking for ways to grow and be the best version of myself, both at work and at home. I have found an equal passion for hair in the business management and leadership role that ownership has engaged for me. Knowing first hand how incredible this industry can be as a life long career, I truly enjoy seeing and celebrating the successes of newer ones in the industry and helping them build that joy filled and prosperous career.

Behind the chair, you’ll usually find my client and I laughing and talking about life. Big Chops are my FAV! There’s nothing more liberating than chopping off a few inches into a sassy bob or spunky pixie! (Get used to the compliments now) As women we love changing up our styles so I equally enjoy helping ones through the grow out process and shifting the fun “chop” to fun with color! In August of 2020 I was more than happy to shave my head along with my sister who because of hair loss from chemo, shaved hers before waiting to lose it all. With my love of short styles and knowledge on best practices for growing out short hair, I am thankful to be able to help her through this tough road and be able to walk it right along with her.

Jennifer Harmon

Stylist/Nail Technician

I have been so blessed to be a professional to this industry for 20 years. I was born for design and can prove it! I hung my pacifier on the Christmas tree at 11 months old and cried for two hours until my family found my creative ornament! I can't keep my hands out of people's hair and miss it when I'm on vacation and am away from work. I restyle the back of people's heads during church when I sit too far in the back. (Sorry Pastor Chris!!) LOL! Hair styling is in my blood!!!!!

I love to work with all types of hair but specialize in fine and thinning hair. I carry a luxury line of color that has wonderful grey coverage and can do beautiful highlights as well as gorgeous perms.

I have a heart for working with women. I am a leader of a single moms small group and enjoy encouraging and sharing some of the wisdom I gained during the years I raised my son on my own. We give back to the community together by serving at the Salvation Army. It's a great time to bond and reflect on our blessings. I have also been fortunate enough to work with a group of women in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya. Encouraging, sharing God's Word, feeding, fellowshipping and loving these women has altered the focus of my life. I have also been able to serve several times in Haiti, Guatemala, Mexico and New York. Serving gives me purpose and I feel honored to do it.

In my chair I want you to feel comfortable. We will find a style to make you look and feel amazing! You can bring ideas, pictures or you can leave it in my hands. Sara Maltby

Stylist/Wax Specialist

Hi. My name is Sara Maltby. I've been doing hair for about 6 years now. I love the hair industry for many reasons. I get to meet all kinds of new people and make them feel good about the way they look! I've always said if you look good, you feel good!

A little about myself, I grew up in a small town about an hour and a half from Bloomington. I graduated in 2005 from Beardstown High School. As a child I had people close to me in Foster Care. Seeing and learning about their lives, I told myself when I grow up I'm going to go back to Foster homes and Group homes to do hair, make-up, nails anything to make them feel good about themselves. My life didn't go as planned. It took me longer then I wanted to actually go to school to do hair and get my license. But once I became a mother to my amazing daughter I knew that's when I had to make my dreams happen. When she turned 6 months old I enrolled in Cosmetology school and I haven't been happier and love getting to fulfill that lifelong dream of being in the hair industry.

I get such joy when I can make someone's hair dreams come to reality. I've come to love all the new and forever changing trends that come with doing hair. So come let me make you feel beautiful!

Iridian Rodriguez

I've been a hairstylist for 5 years and have loved every minute of it! My home town is in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Texas where I was born and raised.

My journey as a hairstylist first started when I was 13 and my first client was my mom. She always needed a color touch up every 4 weeks. Sooner or later I was doing it for her. While doing her hair my love of doing hair grew! I loved the way it made her feel! I love getting to be creative with all different hair types. Doing hair is definitely an art! I truly am a perfectionist with each and every head of hair that I touch. I am very attentive to detail and feel it shows in my work.

I have a cat named Dotty. Dot for short because she has a black spot on her face. She's my little furry buddy. My boyfriend and I also love going on walks outside on the trails and building Legos together. Especially if it's a special edition set. We joke that we need a separated room dedicated to our Legos because we have so many.

I enjoy cooking a lot and experimenting with new recipes that I find on Pinterest. I like to tap into my inner chef and make our home dinners like a restaurant vibe! I pride myself on being very clean and organized both in the salon and at home, which helps after a large restaurant vibe quality meal and all the dirty dishes that follow.

Jayla Tennyson

Welcome! My name is Jayla. I have been doing hair for around 3 years now and fall more and more in love with it every day. I graduated from Paul Mitchell here in Normal in July 2023 and am very proud of that accomplishment. While in hair school, I did the night program and it was nothing short of difficult. Working a full time job all day, then going to school until 10pm was the most testing period of my life. I will always be proud of myself for making it through. I genuinely love having such a special, fun career, and one that makes people feel beautiful too!

I was born in Decatur IL, but pretty much grew up in Normal as I moved here when I was 9. I went to Normal Community High School, and also attended Hair Masters cosmetology while in high school, through a fun career program. During high school, I had lots of friends and I was always the beauty guru of the friend group. Spent lots of time doing other girls hair and makeup for all types of occasions, especially proms and homecomings. My mom would always yell at me for focusing more on other girls than my own for those special days, but I loved doing it so much. I never wandered from hair and never will.

I have a pretty large family all over the state of IL. I have 4 parents who are amazing, and 3 siblings from them who are all under the age of 10. I am a big sis through and through. Very protective and loving towards them. It seems as though my sister may be following in my footsteps as she is very into all things skin care and beauty. My current favorite things are obviously my friends, going to church, country music, and binge watching tv shows. I've always been a girl who loves a good girls night out or in, whether it be a party or some chill time with snacks and a movie. I tend to go for romance movies:) I also love heading over to church on a beautiful Sunday morning with my girls. It's always so healing and sweet. Country music will always soothe my soul. If you haven't heard of Tailgate and Tallboys, the country music festival here in Bloomington, you are missing out big time. It is my favorite time of the year. Every June all of my family comes down and we get to see amazing country music artists all weekend long. It's the most fun time ever.

Alicia Hernandez

Nail Technician

I absolutely love being a part of the Pure Envy Salon & Spa team. I found my passion for nails as young girl, gluing on fake nails that were way too long. School was never my forte until I found  Midwest College of Cosmetology in 2004 where I  focused exclusively on nail technology. I graduated top of my class and continued to grow through many years of continued education. I've completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Light Elegance. I'm certified in Reflexology,  Certified Pro in CND Shellac and a Master CND Painter. Pinterest and YouTube is where I can spend many hours finding fun new ways to create unique nail designs for holidays, special occasions or just because. I specialize in natural manicures, gel nails with Light Elegance products, soak-off gels and Shellac, French finish as well as nail art and soothing pedicures with a massaging spa chair. When you schedule a experience with me I strive to give you a nail experience that is top notch while paying attention to detail, making sure each guest walks away with picture perfect polished nails (some say I'm a perfectionist). 

 I take pride in offering clients a relaxing, comfortable service while getting  to know you, because I consider my clients a second family. I assure my interaction with you is both thorough and enjoyable. When I'm not at work making your day a little brighter, I love to spend time with my husband and our 3 beautiful children. We love being outdoors planting flowers or in garage using bigger tools and oversized nail polish brushes making new decor for our home with rustic wood. The way that we like to end our days is snuggled up as a family having a movie night or play a game.

Grayson Hofmann

Esthetician

Hi! My name is Gray! I graduated from Tricoci University in February 2022! Since I was little, I always loved playing with makeup and I continued with my love of makeup throughout Junior High and High School. I gradually became more interested in skincare and realized I could make a career out of that. I couldn't imagine doing anything else!

I love to sing and dance, cuddling with my orange cat Cleo, and spending time with my friends and family! My boyfriend and I are involved with a young adult group in our church and meet weekly for food, fellowship, and time in God's word! I've been lucky enough to travel on a few mission trips in my life through my youth groups and church. I've been to Michigan a few times, Texas, and Mexico! I hope to go on many more!

Lash Lift and Tints are probably my favorite service to perform, but I love everything I do! I provide all kinds of Facials, Lash Lift and Tints, Brow Laminations and Tints, and Brow Waxing. My main goal is for everyone to leave my room feeling confident and comfortable.

Tess Tyler

Esthetician / Spray Tan Specialist

Hey, I’m Tess! I’m from a small town right outside of Bloomington-Normal. I graduated from Tricoci University in January of 2022. I have always known skincare was going to be in my life forever because of my personal issues with my own skin. About 8th grade was the year I really wanted to figure out for myself how to clear up acne and control it. So from then until now, I have done anything and everything to learn as much as I can about skin, so I can help other people like me!

That being said, my everyday goal in the spa is to have my clients leaving my room feeling relaxed, refreshed, and beautiful! Whether that being from a facial, a fresh wax, a lash lift, or fresh brows. 

Outside of work I enjoy time at home with my cat and best friend/roommate, but of course have to throw in girls nights every now and then! I also am a huge beach lover. My mom and I have an annual beach trip we take every summer, we go to Florida, the Carolinas, Georgia, etc. We love exploring new scenery and getting a taste of what the beach life is like.

Hi, my name is Claudia! I recently moved back to the area after living in Chicago for five years . I received my bachelors degree of Interior Design from ISU. During the pandemic I decided to make a career change. Enrolling in beauty school turned out to be the best decision I ever made. I am a graduate of Aveda and a licensed aesthetician. I have been a Lash technician for 2 1/2 years. 

My ultimate goal in this industry is to  enhance my clients’ natural beauty and make them feel great about themselves. I take pride in a lengthy consultation to ensure my clients will be satisfied with their service.

In my spare time, I like to play with my one eyed cat, ivy. She’s my sidekick! I am true crime obsessed. I love listening to podcasts with my clients and discussing recent true crime cases. I also enjoy reality TV and keeping up with what’s going on in the world. Getting to know my clients and what they like is important to me. 

I am looking forward to being a part of the Blo/No community again and meeting new clients who love lash extensions!
